Smart Cars

I love the idea of a gas efficient vehicle to minimize the effect of the rising gas prices. I am not sure if the smart car is it for a traffic congested state such as Atlanta. Atlanta is at the bottom of the list for friendly walking states, need I say more. There aren't very menay sidewalks nor effective public transportation. Everyone seems to be in a hurry especially on the highways and no one wants to follow the speed limit. I can't imagine getting in a car accident with an SUV driving in a smart car. It almost feels like a toy car that truelly belongs in a country side town with a population of 500,000 people or less.

Gas Prices

It appears gas prices will be at $7 by the end of the summer. That's a far cry from the .99c per gallon days which was only about five years ago. It bothers me that we can't find a cheaper way to make gasoline domestically wwithout relying on outside sources. I'd like to know who is profiting from this? I was listening to NPR on my way to work and was shocked to hear that petroleum companies only earn about .4cper dollar margin on the sale of gaoline. Find that vey hard to believe considering alot of upper management in most petroleum companies are walking away with enormous bonus packages and salaries.
